crab fest, 09!

last weekend, i posted pictures from my uncle's 2008 "crab fest" and then made the drive down to rural delaware (did you know such a part of the state even existed?) for this year's festivities. the past week was a little crazy at work, so i'm just getting around to posting my favorites from the day now.

today, i'm headed down to delaware for my uncle's annual labor day weekend family "crabfest". in honor of the occasion, i thought i'd share some photos from last year's event. happy labor day weekend!

louisa & richard, 6/27/09

my cousin louisa got married on june 27th at a gorgeous church in philly. i have no great shots of the ceremony because i was up in the choir/organ loft playing with my trio, but i made up for that at the reception (which was held at the restaurant school on walnut street). the location was perfect and it was definitely one of the prettiest receptions i've ever been to, hands down. at one point, one of the professional photographers came over to compare lenses with me. he was a nikon guy, but we got along just fine.

fun with macro!

over the summer, i discovered an awesome technique known as "double lens reverse macro". basically, you hold two lenses together, face to face, and take a picture through them. i love it because it's given my old kit lens new life and it produces some awesome results.

my set-up is shown below - i've got my canon 50mm f/1.8 attached to my 18-55mm kit lens with a macro coupler.
